Le Rendezvous: A Tranquil and Artful Residential Apartment

An Oriental and Eclectic Expression of Design

The layout of Le Rendezvous is a testament to thoughtful planning and attention to detail. The rooms are intertwined with a winding passage, reminiscent of the Sanheyuan architecture. By taking turns from the entrance to the living space and dining room, each area is clearly compartmentalized, ensuring privacy and a sense of tranquility. Life scenes shuttle between doorways and passages paved with diverse textures, creating a harmonious and serene living environment.

What sets Le Rendezvous apart is its unique blend of framing and layering, reality and virtuality. The 188-square-meter layout clearly demarcates the served spaces suffused with lusters from natural stones, and the service spaces imbued with wood-felt serenity. The interplay of reflections from mirrors and crystals on the chandelier creates a captivating dance of light and shadow, adding both artful and emotional appeals to the design.

The realization of Le Rendezvous is a testament to the designer's craftsmanship. Deep flooring backdrops with touches of emerald colors set the stage for the black-and-white trapezoid marble flooring at the entrance, which seamlessly transitions into the living area. Massive white marble walls, delineated by golden inlays, exude elegance and magnificence, while sheer drapes allow a shaft of sunlight to illuminate the space.

Le Rendezvous offers a truly unique living experience. The design caters to both hospitality and a tasteful lifestyle, comprising three ensuite bedrooms, an air-filled living space, and a dim yet alluring dining area. The walls are arranged in a clear alignment, with bedroom doors hidden from fractional slots and storage cabinets cleverly integrated into the design.

One of the design's notable challenges was the integration of a traditional ancestor hall. In Chinese tradition, this area often becomes an eyesore in the living space. However, Mu Chin Chiang compartmentalized the ancestor hall in a secret cubicle, positioning it towards a light-filled facet. The hall is structured with wall fabric, wood veneering, and slate materials, serving not only as a space for worshiping ancestors but also as a meditation area.

Le Rendezvous was completed in January 2021 and is located in Kaohsiung city, Taiwan. The design draws inspiration from the concept of Sanheyuan and incorporates cultural implications throughout. The use of red and green, symbolizing good fortune in Asian aesthetics, can be seen in the huge wall collage.

Le Rendezvous has been recognized for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2023 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. Le Rendezvous stands out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its contribution to a better world.
